This book is written to meet the students’ requirements of English language. It has sixteen chapters. The chapters are organized in two sections; listening and reading along with some exercises.
In the listening section; students improve their listening skills by going through the listening exercise already prepared in relation with the audio parts in the provided accompanying CD.
Furthermore, a matching task is provided to acquaint students with new audio words before each listening.
Students are recommended listen carefully by only using hearing in order to understand the content of each audio file without reading the text.
All the audio parts are collected from special English. "Special English provides clear and simple news and information to non-English speaking audiences. Using a 1,500 word vocabulary and a slow delivery, about 90 words a minute, Special English has helped tens of millions of listeners learn English since its first broadcast on October 19, 1959."
In the reading section; students get involved in the recognition when they are asked to respond to the questions through T/F and multiple-choice items.
A glossary is provided at the back of the book for the consultation of students and teachers.
We would like to express our sense of gratitude to all the colleagues, students and many others, including the publisher who has provided us insightful comments.
